Booking, Payment & Cancellation
Bookings:
We are only booking day sailing excursions for the moment. You are booking the outside spaces of the boat (these are crossover boats with indoor cabin space dedicated to term charter use only). We restrict inside access to bathroom use only please per our insurance and USCG inspection rules for safety.
Secure your day sail charter using our real-time boat & itinerary booking software for advertised rates via a convenient online booking calendar for a nominal convenience fee of 2.75%

Brief statement confirming you are agreeing to our cancellation policy and you are submitting the above CC information to GUARANTEE THE DATE. Essentially, by booking via email you are inherently agreeing to the below-listed cancellation policy.
**Please note that if you have any questions beyond processing payment and choose to contact us for more information rather than using our online calendar trip planning tools, rates are approximately 10% higher than what is listed on this site for direct/online bookings.
Gratuity: All of our private charters and groups of 4 or more on public trips are assessed an automatic 20% gratuity on the total charter bill including base rates and all services. You are welcome to be more generous if you feel the Captain & Crew went above and beyond standard good service. Otherwise, for public trips, gratuities are suggested as industry standard, but discretionary.
Deposits & Payments: Spots are normally paid for in full using the online booking system —or— balance due the day of departure with CC info collected at time of booking for those wishing to save the nominal credit card processing fee, we can authorize the card, but wait for full payment on the day of the charter.
Cancellations or Rescheduling:
All bookings are subject to a 20% of reservation value non-refundable portion.
From two (2) weeks to four (4) days out prior to your scheduled departure, the cancellation fee is 50% of the remaining 80% balance/cost of your private charter. You will be refunded the difference.
From four (4) days to two (2) days, the cancellation fee is 75% of the remaining 80%balanace/total cost of your private charter. You will be refunded the difference.
After that, (within the 48 hour window of departure) there are no cancellations and no refunds for public or private charter rates and ticket costs. Your credit card was already charged for the 100% full amount of the trip. This includes no-shows and costs for special catering & provisions. There will be no refunds.
We will apply the 20% retained from rebooking requests made outside the 2 week window toward rebooking dates as credit for future sails within 6 months of originally scheduled sail pper request and if our schedule permits.
**Holiday Premium Time Cancellations: Thanksgiving week, Christmas period from December 15-Jan 15, Easter week, and all 3 day holiday weekends including but not limited to Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, President’s Day, etc. require three (3) weeks or 30 day notice of cancellation or full charge no partial like listed above**).
**Multi-Day Charter Cancellations: We require 60 days notice or else 50% charge and 30 days notice or 75% charge. 100% charge if cancelled within 2 weeks.
Courtesy: We do not double book or keep a list of people who can take your place. We will keep our commitment to you and expect you to keep your commitment to us. Your submission of a CC# to us via email is proof of your acceptance of this cancellation policy & agreement to book the date.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable 20% portion of the rate. Please commit to sailing with us when you make your reservation otherwise outside our cancellation policy we will process refunds at 80% of original payment or in other words you sacrifice 20% of original rate to cancel and/or $100 rebooking fee with original value applied as a store credit to new date/trip value noting that rates for new dates may not be the same but no refunds for lesser value dates will be given. The bottom line is please keep your commitment to us as we will to you. For public trips we do not accept cancellations less that 48 hours in advance of departure and for private trips 2 weeks in advance of departure. No-shows are 100% NO REFUNDS. We also do not accept cancellations over the phone. They must be in written form via email to: SaltyDogDaySails@gmail.com and we will confirm your written request with a cancellation notice reply email. We cannot take cancellations over the phone or voicemail.
Please do not book unless you are certain of your travel plans. We will accept cancellations or rescheduling IN WRITING via email to: SALTY DOG DAY SAILS@gmail.com if received more than 48 hours for public trips or two (2) weeks before your scheduled private charter with no penalty charge**. Please be mindful that you are entering into a contract similar to that of purchasing an airline seat or theater tickets.
Visa/MC/Amex subject to 2.75% convenience fee regardless of how you book a sailing charter with us: Online Calendar versus Call-In CC info are both subject to CC imposed processing fees.
All Charters, tickets, seats are guaranteed with cc info, but you may opt to pay cash the day of the trip to avoid cc processing fees. PAYPAL and VENMO are NOT cash and are subject to the 10% higher rate because they require special communication outside the booking calendar platform. CASH avoids the convenience fee.
Online booking software also charges a negligible per ticket/booking convenience fee just like VRBO, but this is capped at $30 per ticket/transaction. Our website and online booking calendar rates are still up to 10% cheaper than rates booked via email inquiries/calls etc. If you bring cash the day of the trip, we will refund your online reservation and you will not be subject to any extra fees: just the charter and the gratuity.
Text 717-602-3498 to book direct only if you are paying cash (the day of the trip). We still require the following information to guarantee your day per our cancellation policy via text as follows: Charter date (check calendar for availability first), Desired boat & itinerary, Name on card, card number, exp date, SEC code, email for confirmation— we will reply back with confirmation via email, but any questions beyond payment transaction will require bookings subject to the higher rates.
Please note we are basically a rain-or-shine sailing experience. With our popularity we do not have much flexibility to change dates because of less than desirable weather and only cancel for safety considerations (We have the ability to sail safely roughly 360/365 days a year). A little liquid sunshine won’t hurt you! If we have a day free on our schedule and have a forecast that would be better than one day or another—we will let you know and inquire if you have the ability to switch—but again, we only cancel charters for safety reasons. Public Charter dates are not changeable given there are multiple other groups relying on a total number of guests to sail in order to make minimums.
Weather Cancellations
We reserve the right to cancel any trip due to a weather related safety concern (abnormally high winds and/or seas) or equipment related issues. HOWEVER, we expect seasonally normal higher winds and sea conditions in the winter and cusp seasons (not unsafe) as well as periods of rain throughout most days in the summer as we are in the tropics. We do not cancel for normal rain/passing showers, normal seasonal winds/seas or if it is cloudy, sunny, too hot etc.
We will gladly attempt to reschedule a trip to another day if our schedule is available if your concerns over weather would preclude you from enjoying your day with us, however if no alternate date is available we will still hold you to the cancellation policy.
Although we are essentially a rain-or-shine charter experience, we want to have as much fun (if not more) as you, so if a 100% rain day is forecast, then we will of course, unlike any other company, make the decision to reschedule the trip unless YOU insist you want to go—we only cancel with full refund for safety reasons.
